Follow up to the cider comment. What Americans call “apple cider” is extremely close to what the British call “apple juice”. I am a fan of all forms of cider, non-alcoholic juice or the real stuff, but hate apple juice. As you said, it’s basically just sugar. When As soon as I get on a flight to the UK I order apple juice. They usually have British apple juice on the plane, which wonderfully can be obtained in the UK year round. So the advantage definitely goes to the UK for their lack of clear yellow liquid from Mott’s.
