When we asked the general British public at our office to explain their feelings about Halloween, the consensus was: “we think you’re all mad.”
Halloween is not the same candy-loaded, decked out-costume affair as it is here. This is a shame because Halloween is the best holiday – at no other time can you safely encourage children to ask for candy from strangers.
Like most holidays, it also typically involves massive amounts of alcohol and when you are dressed like Lucille Bluth it is much easier to justify inebriation.
Halloween has a simple formula, and that is why it works: candy + costume + booze
Of course, people can ruin it by giving away pencils and coupons, but more on that here.
