Vis-a-vis the question about the British equivalent of eggnog, I don’t know if it’s exactly prevalent enough to be a true equivalent but in our house at least we drink a cocktail called a Snowball at Christmas. It’s made with Advocaat (a liqueur made with egg yolks that tastes like custard and therefore delicious) lemonade (the clear fizzy kind, not the cloudy flat kind) and lime. I suppose the egg element makes it comparable, but eggnog sounds revolting and Snowballs are heavenly.

We’ve had several responses along this line, so we’re going to call it. eggnog = snowball.

Advantage: UK, because snowball is a slightly more fun and festively creative word. (Though fizzy lemonade? Really?)
